Rowan Eklund

Team Captain

  • Rowan is a senior in aerospace engineering and has been with SRL the past three years, formerly serving as the Vehicle Design lead and the Lead Engineer. He has interned at SpaceX for the past two summers, first at Starlink and then on Starship launch tower. Aside from all the awesome things that SRL does, Rowan enjoys hiking, swing & line dancing, climbing, and camping.

Pedro Bear

Team Captain

  • Pedro is a third-year SRL member and Team Captain, previously serving as Liquids Lead. Over this past summer, he interned at Raytheon. Outside of rocketry, he enjoys climbing, hiking, cave exploration, off-roading, and playing guitar in a band.

James Nabity, Ph.D

Faculty Advisor

  • Dr. Nabity is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences working for Bioserve Space Technologies. He has been a professor at CU since 2013, and prior to that he was a Principal Engineer at TDA Research, Inc. and a Mechanical Engineer at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division. He received his Pd.D. in Mechanical Engineering from CU, and was deemed a NASA highly qualified candidate for the Astronaut Class of 2009, among myriad other achievements.

    For the past several years, Dr. Nabity has been the official faculty advisor for SRL, providing exceptional technical and administrative advice for all of our operations. Today, Dr. Nabity is the primary advisor for all of SRL’s rocketry projects.

Aadit Gohil

Lead Engineer

  • Aadit is the former Solid Propulsion Team Lead entering his third year with SRL. He is responsible for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of our recent solid rocket motors, including upcoming spaceshot motor “Crucible”. He is currently a junior in Aerospace Engineering who previously interned at X-Bow Systems, and continued part-time at Ursa Major after interning there this past summer. Outside of engineering, he enjoys hiking, mountaineering, astrophotography, tennis, and Spikeball.

Olivia Velasco

Operations Officer

  • Olivia is a senior majoring in Finance and Marketing. She joined SRL on the Operations team during her sophomore year. This will be her third year as the Operations Officer. Olivia works behind the scenes on managing the overall team structure; supporting the rest of the club so that they can continue building rockets. She loves music, board games, reading, movies, video games, and going out with friends.

Josh Savage

Safety Officer

  • Josh is an Aerospace Engineering major and has been in SRL for the past 3 years through some of the biggest moments of the club. He was the Composite Lead for the 2024-2025 school year overseeing the design and manufacturing of SRL's last rocket, Mamba III, and has since been the club's Safety Officer. He likes all things aerospace, but is especially passionate about aircrafts and aviation. In his free time, he enjoys gaming and working on personal engineering projects.

Robert Umali

Composites & External Operations Lead

  • Robert is a junior in Aerospace Engineering and has been with SRL for two years. He loves talking rockets and space and enjoys tackling fun engineering problems with friends. Outside of engineering, he enjoys nature, athletics, gaming and cooking.

Wang Long Lee

Composites Lead

  • Long is a senior in BAM and is entering his third year with SRL. He’s passionate about space exploration and aviation and is excited to help push SRL toward Spaceshot. Outside of engineering, he enjoys sim racing.

Josh Cole

Vehicle Design Lead

  • Josh is a senior at CU Boulder majoring in aerospace engineering with a minor in astrophysical and planetary sciences. He has been a member of SRL for three years and interned at Rocket Lab's Archimedes engine test site this past summer. Outside of building rockets, Josh enjoys playing piano and trombone, keeping aquariums, and hiking.

Reza Parsey

Vehicle Design Lead

  • Reza is a senior in his fourth year with SRL. He co-leads the design of the rocket aerodynamics and structures, along with the launch tower. Outside of SRL, he enjoys hiking, D&D, and painting.

Alex Reich

Avionics Lead

  • Alex is SRL's Avionics Lead. He has been in the club for three years, during which he has been part of the Mamba and Spaceshot campaigns, as well as working on electronics for the team’s liquids test stand, Diablo. Right now, he is working on creating both flight and ground systems for SRL’s upcoming Spaceshot rocket with the Avionics team. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, climbing, gardening and outdoor activities.

Nate Orlowski

Solid Propulsion Lead

  • Nate is entering his second year with SRL, and is entering his first year as the Solid Propulsion Lead. Outside of SRL, he enjoys scuba diving, hiking, fishing, and skiing.

Nick Hamilton

Liquid Fluids Lead

  • Nick is a senior in Aerospace Engineering, starting his fourth year in SRL. Outside of engineering, he likes hiking, gaming, and playing with his dog.

Logan Yetka

Liquid Propulsion Lead

  • Logan Yetka is a senior/MS student majoring in aerospace engineering. He has been on SRL for 3 years, leading the development of 2 liquid engines while working on Mamba III. He's interned at both Ursa Major and Sierra Nevada Corperation. Outside of work he loves to climb, play guitar, and play board games.

Ben Dubbell

L1 Lead

  • Ben is a junior in aerospace engineering. He joined SRL his freshman year working on composites and manufacturing along with getting his L1 and L2 certifications. Outside of SRL, Ben is interested in astrophotography, drone videography, skiing, and golf.

Nidhi Patil

L1 Lead

  • Nidhi is a junior studying aerospace engineering, and has been part of SRL since her freshman year. She currently serves as an L1 Lead and works on the Solids team, where she’s worked on a variety of projects ranging from layups to launch tower. Outside of SRL, she enjoys figure skating, painting, and chasing the perfect sunset.

Sam Kleiner

Onboarding Lead

  • Sam is a senior in aerospace engineering with a minor in space and engineering management. She has been a member of SRL for three years and was previously an L1 Lead for two years. This past summer, she interned with United Launch Alliance working on the Vulcan booster. Outside of SRL, she enjoys tennis, hiking, skiing and video games.
