What is Obsidian?

Obsidian is our 100% student designed, manufactured, and assembled 4-inch diameter vehicle; aiming to be scaled down-version of our Spaceshot configuration.

The entirety of the vehicle airframe and nosecone were made in-house, both wound using our 4-axis filament winder.

This vehicle will initially be flying on a commercial, Cesaroni O3400 motor, but will serve as the testbed vehicle for flight testing our composite motor technology in the near future.

Other technologies that will be validated during the maiden flight are:

This vehicle not only represents a scaled-down version of our Spaceshot vehicle, but also serves as a training platform for newer members, so that we can pass down knowledge to the next generation of SRL engineers.
