At 14′ tall and 8″ ID, Diamondback is the largest vehicle we’ve flown to date. It was designed as a manufacturing pathfinder for Spaceshot. This included the construction of our first composites oven and mandrel extractor. Despite many challenges, Diamondback had a nominal flight and recovery. It was a key learning experience which defined new problems composites manufacturing team is working hard to conquer.
