Operations

Overview

The Operations team keeps SRL running. We manage the club's internal growth and logistics, build and maintain relationships with sponsors and the broader aerospace community, and tell SRL's story through media and documentation. Whether it's preparing members for the industry, getting the team to a launch site, or capturing the moment a motor ignites, Operations makes sure the rest of SRL can focus on building rockets.

Focus Areas:

    • Member Development

      We run SRL's mentorship program, pairing new members with experienced team members to help them ramp up quickly and find their footing on the team.

    • Professional Development

      We prepare members for the aerospace industry through resume workshops, mock interviews, and internship and job application support — helping members translate their SRL experience into real career opportunities.

    • Club Culture

      We organize club social events and partner guest-speaker events, building community within SRL and connecting members with professionals in the field.

    • Recruitment & Tabling

      We plan and run SRL's recruitment efforts, including tabling at campus events, to bring in new members and grow the club.

    • Launch Logistics

      We plan the logistics behind every launch trip; coordinating travel, lodging, and site arrangements to get the team and hardware where they need to be.

    • Sponsorships & Partnerships

      We manage the external image of the club and connect with university officials and industry leaders. This includes public relations, securing sponsorships, and collaborating with companies, other student organizations, and government partners.

    • Events

      We represent SRL at major Colorado aerospace events, including Aerospace Day and the Space Symposium, and organize industry tours to aerospace companies in the region.

    • Educational Initiatives

      In collaboration with the L1 Certification team, we work closely with the ITLL Pre-College Engineering Program to inspire the next generation of explorers, giving K-12 students hands-on experience with real engineering challenges.

    • Content & Social

      We manage SRL's social media presence and create content (photography, video, and graphic design) that documents our builds, tests, and launches.

    • Event & Session Coverage

      We handle photography and videography at every build session, team meeting, static fire, and launch.

    • Website & Documentation

      We maintain SRL's website and produce longer-form documentation and video coverage of major projects.
